Making up (or blindly accepting made up) stuff because you don't understand things is not really the best way to approach life.
If you don't understand something at any given moment, then you simply don't currently understand it, but you can, if you can be bothered, go and learn about it.
Even if after your studies you know no more than you began with, that's still no reason to make up shit to fill in the gaps, even if you don't know but feel others think you should. Just go around the loop again as things are being discovered (this exact same way) all the time.
There was a time (hard to believe I know, for some of you) that I knew jack-shit about telephony, but that didn't mean I needed to explain away the ability to talk to somebody on the other side of the world as some sort of "White man's magic"; I just filled in the gaps and got my own magician's badge in that particular subject.
I can now spout qualified bollocks as well as any vicar, priest or pope. And some stupid fuck somewhere will believe it and part with their hard-earned as a result.
